When should a knee scooter be used and for how long?

What are the costs?
- As your doctor or surgeon prescribes - first and foremost.
- Surgeons typically recommend 6 to 14 weeks of no weight-bearing after surgery or
serious foot or ankle injury. - Scoot About, LLC delivers or ships the FREE SPIRIT® knee scooter prior to surgery,
when possible. For other injuries, Scoot About, LLC can usually deliver or ship within
one-two days.
What are the features of a FREE SPIRIT® knee scooter?
- Can be used by individuals from 80 lbs to 400 lbs
- Fits heights (adjustable) from 4’8” to 6’6”.
- Can be adjusted from right to left leg access — in only minutes.
- Is easy to lift and maneuver, plus it can be used as a seat.
- Allows the active person to return to work or school sooner.
What are the costs?
- Rental:
- FREE SPIRIT® : $35/wk (4 wk minimum)
- Refundable deposit is required for each knee scooter (typically, $250 for adults; $350
for 18 and under.) - Scoot About, LLC does not bill insurance or Medicare/Medicaid
- Check with your provider to verify whether or not they will cover your rental or
purchase (use HCPC #E0118, crutch substitute.) - Purchase: (plus shipping; according to your Zip Code/UPS shipping zone)
- FREE SPIRIT® : $565
- Sales Tax is not charged if you provide a prescription or Letter of Medical Necessity
from your Physician. - Nominal delivery & pickup service fee applies for San Antonio Metro area (check
Contact Page for specific locations we service.) - Prices are subject to change without notice.
